The IEEE Student Branch, JIT, in collaboration with the IEEE Signal Processing Society Student Chapter, organized an invited talk by Sri H. D. Ananda on the topic “Physics in Play at Satellite Control Station – Master Control” on 12th March 2026 from 11:20 AM to 1:00 PM in the Auditorium, JIT Campus.
The event was conducted to create awareness about satellites among 4th Semester ECE students of both A and B sections. The program also aimed to promote awareness about IEEE and to encourage students to actively participate in technical and professional development activities through IEEE initiatives.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Sri H. D. Ananda, along with the Head of the ECE Department and Advisor of the IEEE SPS Student Chapter, Dr. Asha Bharathi S., and IEEE Student Branch Counselor Dr. Sowmya Padukone G.
The session provided valuable insights into the relevance of satellites, types of satellites, and various related concepts, and inspired students to engage in professional growth through IEEE platforms.
Student Jaishree S., of 4th Semester ECE, on behalf of the students, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Management of Jyothy Institute of Technology for facilitating and supporting the successful conduct of the IEEE event. She also formally and cordially invited the dignitaries of the event.
The session marked an enriching academic experience, highlighting the significance of satellites in contemporary education and research, along with the introduction of the Chief Guest, Sri H. D. Ananda.
This was followed by an insightful talk on “Physics in Play at Satellite Control Station – Master Control” delivered by the guest, Sri H. D. Ananda.
A Satellite Station (also called a Satellite Ground Station) is a facility on Earth used to communicate with artificial satellites. It sends signals to satellites and receives signals from them for purposes such as communication, broadcasting, navigation, and scientific observation.
The Life Cycle of a Satellite refers to the different stages a satellite goes through, from its design to its retirement. Satellites used by organizations such as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) follow a systematic lifecycle.
The major stages in the lifecycle of a satellite are:
There were 40 IEEE members and 39 Non-IEEE members present for the invited talk.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) expresses its sincere gratitude to Sri H. D. Ananda for gracing the event and delivering an inspiring and insightful talk.
Sanjana S. Akki, a 4th Semester ECE student, delivered the Vote of Thanks to the Management of Jyothy Institute of Technology, Dr. Asha Bharathi S., Professor & Head and Advisor, IEEE SPS Chapter, Dr. Sowmya Padukone G., IEEE Student Branch Counselor, faculty members of the ECE Department, and the students of ECE for their valuable guidance and support.
The Department also extends its heartfelt appreciation to all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
