World Language Club (WLC)

About the Club

The World Language Club (WLC) is a student-driven initiative committed to helping students become confident communicators, effective collaborators, and globally aware individuals.

Founded with the goal of creating an inclusive and engaging community, the club provides a platform where students can step outside their comfort zones, interact with peers, and develop essential interpersonal and professional skills through enjoyable and meaningful activities. WLC regularly organizes interactive events, team-building activities, public speaking sessions, language-based games, cultural exchanges, debates, quizzes, and collaborative workshops that encourage students to express themselves confidently while learning from one another.

Beyond personal development, the club also serves as a bridge between students from diverse backgrounds by promoting cultural appreciation and meaningful interaction, while preparing members for their professional journey through practical, skill-focused sessions.

To build a confident, globally aware student community by nurturing communication, collaboration, and cultural understanding, and by connecting members with the interpersonal and professional skills needed to thrive beyond academics.

Mission

• Provide students with hands-on opportunities to build verbal communication, leadership, teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking skills through engaging activities.
• Expose students to professional communication practices, workplace etiquette, and networking skills beyond the classroom.
• Enable students to step outside their comfort zones and grow into confident, expressive communicators.
• Promote cultural appreciation and meaningful interaction among students from diverse backgrounds.

• Won Bronze Medal at VTU Debate Competition.
• Won Silver Medal at VTU Elocution Competition.
• Secured 1st Place at BGS Fest Inter-College Debate.
• Secured 2nd Place at BMSIT Intercollegiate Debate.
• Secured 3rd Place at Rotaract 35th Rotary Yadalam Nanjaiah Setty Inter-Collegiate Debate.
• Represented Jyothy Institute of Technology at the State-level Model United Nations (MUN) Conference held at NITK, Suratkal.
• Represented Jyothy Institute of Technology at the National-level Debate (CRMD’25) conducted at Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Mumbai.
• Represented Jyothy Institute of Technology at the NITK, Suratkal Asian Parliamentary Debate (APD’25).
• Represented Jyothy Institute of Technology at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, in the Intercollegiate Model United Nations (MUN).
• Won Gold Medal at Verbattle Elocution.
• Represented Jyothy Institute of Technology at DSU Debate Competition.
