The IEEE Student Branch, JIT, in collaboration with the IEEE Signal Processing Society Student Chapter, organized an invited talk by Mr. Srikanth H. S. on the topic “VLSI Engineering from Classroom to Chip Industry” on 7th March 2026 from 11:20 AM to 1:00 PM in the ECE Seminar Hall, JIT Campus.
The event was conducted to create awareness about VLSI Engineering among 4th Semester ECE students of both A and B sections. The program also aimed to promote awareness about IEEE and to encourage students to actively participate in technical and professional development activities through IEEE initiatives.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Srikanth H. S., along with the Head of the ECE Department and Advisor of the IEEE SPS Student Chapter, Dr. Asha Bharathi S., and IEEE Student Branch Counselor Dr. Sowmya Padukone G.
The session provided valuable insights into the relevance of VLSI Engineering and its various concepts and inspired students to engage in professional growth through IEEE platforms.
Student Disha N., of 4th Semester ECE, on behalf of the students, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Management of Jyothy Institute of Technology for facilitating and supporting the successful conduct of the IEEE event. She also formally and cordially invited the dignitaries of the event.
The session marked an enriching academic experience, highlighting the significance of VLSI Engineering in contemporary education and research, along with the introduction of the Chief Guest, Mr. Srikanth H. S.
This was followed by an insightful talk on “VLSI Engineering from Classroom to Chip Industry” delivered by the guest, Mr. Srikanth H. S.
VLSI stands for Very Large Scale Integration. It refers to the process of creating integrated circuits (ICs) by combining millions or billions of transistors onto a single chip. VLSI technology allows us to pack a huge number of electronic components (such as transistors, resistors, and capacitors) into one small silicon chip.
The speaker mainly addressed the following points:
The speaker, Mr. Srikanth H. S., provided insights into:
The domains in VLSI discussed during the session included:
Different applications of VLSI in industry and the healthcare sector were also addressed during the session.
Furthermore, VLSI plays a vital role in artificial intelligence hardware, high-performance computing, and data centers, where specialized chips are designed to process large amounts of data efficiently.
There were 39 IEEE members and 36 Non-IEEE members present for the invited talk.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Srikanth H. S. for gracing the event and delivering an inspiring and insightful talk.
Sanjana S. Akki, a 4th Semester ECE student, delivered the Vote of Thanks to the Management of Jyothy Institute of Technology, Dr. Asha Bharathi S., Professor & Head and Advisor, IEEE SPS Chapter, Dr. Sowmya Padukone G., IEEE Student Branch Counselor, Mrs. Hamsa S., Event Coordinator, faculty members of the ECE Department, and the students of ECE for their valuable guidance and support.
The Department also extends its heartfelt appreciation to all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
