Event Summary The Department of Computer Science organized a Student Orientation Program on Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) to introduce students to the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence and its real-world applications. The event aimed to familiarize students with the fundamentals, tools, and ethical implications of Gen AI technologies such as ChatGPT, DALL·E, and other AI-powered platforms.
Highlights

Main goal was to create awareness about the concept of Generative AI and its growing influence in various domains, to guide students on how Gen AI can be effectively used for learning, creativity, and research, to highlight ethical use, data privacy, and responsible AI practices. To encourage students to explore AI-based tools for academic and professional growth. Mr. Mayank Arora, trainer explained the basics of Generative AI and how it differs from traditional AI, The working principles behind models like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Midjourney. Live demonstrations on text generation, image creation, and AI-assisted coding. Career opportunities and future trends in the AI industry.

Outcome

Students gained a clear understanding of Gen AI and its potential applications. Enhanced awareness of ethical and responsible AI usage. Encouraged students to experiment with AI tools for innovative projects. Fostered curiosity and enthusiasm for pursuing AI-related research and careers.

Conclusion

The Student Orientation Program on Generative AI was a successful initiative that inspired students to explore emerging technologies responsibly and creatively. The department plans to organize more such sessions and practical workshops to strengthen students’ understanding of AI applications in various fields.
