Bureau Of Indian Standards (BIS) Orientation Program
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at JIT , organised an STANDARDS ORIENTATION EVENT for IV semester students on 30th APRIL 2026, an initiative of Standards Club, in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) ,aimed at nurturing the young ambassadors of quality and spreading awareness about the significance of standards in everyday life.
The event commenced at 9:30 AM in the ECE Seminar Hall with student registration, where participants received eco-friendly jute folders. The formal inauguration was marked by the traditional lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries: Mr. Mohan Kumar P N, BIS Resource person; Dr. K Chandrasekhar, Dean-Engineering, JIT; and Dr. Asha Bharathi S, HOD, ECE Department

A Standard Writing Competition was conducted at 2:00 PM on the topic “SMART WATCH”, selected by the BIS representative.
The event concluded with a Valedictory Function, which included a heartfelt vote of thanks to the management, faculty, students, and BIS representatives for their support. Winners were awarded cash prizes. Certificates were distributed to all winners and participants, acknowledging their efforts.
The Event has effectively enhanced students’ awareness of standardization, its role in product licensing, and the functioning of BIS in Electronics and IT domains—contributing to their overall professional development.
