Industrial visit – Varahi underground power house, Kaiga nuclear power plant and Kadra dam

The Department of Civil Engineering organised an Industrial Visit for the final year and pre-
final year students of the department on 7 th and 8 th December 2023. The students were taken
to the varahi underground power house, kaiga nuclear power plant and kadra dam. Students
were learnt some practical knowledge regarding power generation.
Varahi Hydro Electric Power Plant, a run-off river project located on the Varahi river near
Hosangadi in the Udupi District of Karnataka in India. Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant, a nuclear
power generating station situated at kaiga, near the river Kali in Karwar, Uttara Kannada
district of Karnataka, India. Kadra Dam constructed across river Kali and was primary built
as hydroelectric project supply of water to turbines of electric power generating station.
