Dr. C. B. Mohan

Dr. C. B. Mohan is the Vice Principal of Jyothy Institute of Technology (JIT), Bengaluru, and also serves as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. An accomplished academician, researcher, and administrator, he has over three decades of experience in engineering education, research, and institutional leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Lubricant Tribology (NAL–VTU), a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Mohan is passionate about creating an inspiring learning environment that nurtures innovation, research, and entrepreneurship. His research interests include tribology, lubricant and coolant characterization, additive development, materials engineering, manufacturing processes, autonomous and energy systems, friction and wear of materials, and advanced engineering design. He has published numerous research papers in reputed journals, guided undergraduate and postgraduate projects, and has been actively involved in funded research and industry consultancy. His collaborations with industry have contributed to the development of advanced tribological testing systems and innovative lubricant technologies.

Known for his approachable nature and student-centric leadership, Dr. Mohan strongly believes that engineering education should blend theoretical knowledge with practical problem-solving and ethical values. He has played a key role in promoting research culture, industry–academia collaboration, and experiential learning at JIT. Through his dedication to academic excellence, mentorship, and continuous innovation, he continues to inspire students and faculty members to become competent engineers, responsible professionals, and lifelong learners. He also serves as a member of the Governing Council of Jyothy Institute of Technology, contributing to the institution’s strategic growth and academic development.
