About Library

The JIT Library consists of a Central Library and 6 Departmental Libraries & 2 Hostel libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programs of the Institute. All students, faculty members of the Institute are entitled to use the library facilities by taking library membership. It is equipped in an area of 400 sq feet. The library can accommodate 200 users at a time which is well-ventilated and furnished.

The library has adopted Open Access System. Documents are classified as per International Classification System’s Dewey Decimal Classification. The library has a good collection of books covering all engineering subjects. The reference section covers with latest yearbooks, Bibliographies, Dictionaries, Directories and Handbook. General knowledge books are also supported with other books which are helpful to prepare for competitive exams/personal development activities. Students can borrow 6 nos of book at a time and return them after 15 days if necessary the same book could be renewed for another 15 days. Apart from Books CDs, and Journals, previous exam VTU Question papers could also be borrowed. Books from reference section could be browsed in library and if essential those books could be issued for overnight, one hour before closing of the library on all days.

Our Faculty and Students can visit J.R.D. Tata Memorial Library (IISC) with their ID Cards for reference purpose and also can take Xerox copies of literature of their interest for project, study or research purpose.

Digital Centre And Internet Facility

Library’s Digital Centre is having a 800 no’s of CDs/ DVDs. Notes of Each Subjects are available on home page which could be downloaded from the Students. Orell Digital Language Lab existing in Digital Library provides audio/ video lessons. This feature enables downloading of the recorded lesson from the teacher’s console. The student can listen to the native speaker’s lessons and pronunciations see video clippings and read the text. The student has provision to type the text material on the screen. The student can repeat the lesson assigned by the linguist, record, and replay. Continuous repetition of the correct pronunciation gives fluency; this paves way to excellent communication. The student can be part of a group discussion. Correction in case of any erratic pronunciation is possible by the linguist. It makes easy for students to launch solicitations and assignments, create playlists for guided learning activities, monitors screen for support and collaboration, and even manages web-based learning activities. These interactive tools are designed to enhance not only language teaching but also class room grading. Also, Internet facility is provided in the digital centre for web search though which could collect information for their projects, PPTs and curricular and extra curricular activities
