Self-Learning and Collaborative Assessment

Course: Operating System (BCS303)
Class: Third Semester, B Section (2024-25 Odd sem)
Faculty Name: Dr. Annie Sujith, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE

The objective of the methodology is to empower students with self-learning capabilities, promote teamwork, and develop critical thinking skills while ensuring a strong understanding of Module 1 concepts. The 3rd semester B-section students were organized into teams of two to promote self-directed learning and collaboration,.

A curated collection of online resources, including video tutorials and supplementary materials, was provided to help students gain an in-depth understanding of Module 1 concepts at their own pace. Students were given a period of 20 days to explore these resources thoroughly.
During this self-learning phase, the faculty conducted multiple offline doubt-clearing and discussion sessions during lecture hours at the college. These sessions provided an interactive platform for addressing queries, reinforcing concepts, and engaging in meaningful discussions about Module 1 topics. As part of the assessment, an offline test was conducted, lasting one hour. Each team received three significant yet randomly selected questions related to Module 1 from the faculty. The teams collaborated to analyze and answer the questions, submitting a concise and well-structured report by the end of the test duration. Team discussions were actively encouraged during the test to foster critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills.
