The Five days skill development programme on Product Design and Development – Simulation was organized for 3 rd sem students of Civil Engineering from 22 nd September to 26 th September 2025 by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jyothy Institute of Technology, Bangalore. Dr. Jayathirtha M Patil, Asst Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed our Vice Principal and HOD Dr. C.B Mohan, all faculty members and technical staff, Department of civil Engineering. Dr. C.B Mohan highlighted the significance of current trends in technologies and also emphasises more on the requirement of skills and importance of simulation software for industries. Also, highlighted the job opportunities in the field of CAD and CAE. Dr. Raghavendra J V highlighted the significance of finite element analysis, role of structural engineers and also the job opportunities in the structural engineering field.
DAY – 1 (22-09-2025)
Dr. Raghavendra J V and Dr. Jayathirtha M Patil, Asst Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, started the training session with introduction to finite element analysis, steps involved in the product design and development and also highlighted the pivotal role of design engineers in manufacturing industries. Dr. Anirudhha Ram H.R, Asst Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted the significance of modelling in the structural analysis and also guided the students to complete the complex modelling and assembly. The practical session started with structural problems (Beams), cantilever and simply supported beams, bar problems subjected to axial load. The hands-on session started utilizing the finite element analysis software. Finally, all students modelled and analyzed the problems and prepared the detailed report. Mr. Sreedhara G.P, Asst professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering guided the students to complete the practical session of DAY 1.
DAY – 2 (23-09-2025)
Dr. Raghavendra J V and Dr. Jayathirtha M Patil, Asst. Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, started the second day training session with design and analysis of thin and thick cylinders, Buckling analysis and modal analysis. Also, highlighted the importance of design optimization problems to achieve the light weight and Factor of safety in industries to ensure the maximum safety. Also, students started the hands-on session and completed all the assigned task under the guidance of Mr. Sreedhara G.P.
DAY – 3 (24-09-2025)
Dr. Raghavendra J V and Dr. Jayathirtha M Patil, Asst Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, started the third day training session with Shear force in plates (Assembly), Truss problems, evaluation of thermal stresses and design of stage truss. Also, highlighted the importance of buckling, fatigue, thermal and drop test analysis for product design and development. Also, students started the hands-on session and completed all the assigned task under the guidance of Mr. Sreedhara G.P.
