Computer centre, at JIT is equipped with state of art of hardware and latest licensed software and networking infrastructure. Latest audio visual infrastructure is being used in class rooms and computer centre. The department consists of experienced faculty members both from the academic and industry background.

Opportunities in computer science and information technology are at their highest point in recent years, including high salaries, multiple job offers, and a variety of perks for luring individuals into joining a company. In general, students who have graduated from engineering college make the best fit in the corporate world.

The department of computer science and engineering is guided by the principles of application of knowledge acquired in the classroom to solve the problems of the real world.

Computer Science and Engineering has changed very fast in the past 3 decades and it continues to develop and adopt the technologies at a faster rate. The demand for computer science engineers has increased over a period of time and even today, there is a shortage of skill sets in the industry. With the introduction of broadband internet access and 3G mobile technology in India, the opportunities have increased in this field by many folds.

The traditional 2 tier applications are replaced by the 3 tier applications, which eliminates maintenance problems. Cloud computing, Mobile computing, Distributed computing, Web applications, Virtual reality applications have changed the world. India has emerged as the preferred destination for software development, for most of best companies worldwide and it opens up immense opportunity to the computer science engineering graduates to work in the latest technologies and get global experience.

So, it is a challenge to develop the skill sets in the student community to cater to the ever changing and demanding software industry. The institution has taken steps to impart practical knowledge in every sphere, so that, the students can face the challenges of the demanding industry.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • PEO1: To develop graduates capable of applying knowledge of Computer Science & Engineering concepts to solve and analyze real life problems in interdisciplinary domains.
  • PEO2: To train students to analyze the requirements of software, technical specifications and design for providing novel & efficient solutions to global business processes
  • PEO3: To inculcate into students critical thinking, leadership qualities, team spirit, effective communication skills and creating a capacity for lifelong learning.

Programme Specific Objectives (PSOs)

  • PSO1: Analyze, design, develop and test software solutions using structured and object oriented approach.
  • PSO2: Effectively use of current optimization techniques and tools in the construction and evaluation of software systems.
  • PSO3: Formulate, simulate and use knowledge in various domains and provide solutions to new ideas and innovations.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

  • PO1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
  • PO3: Design/ Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
  • PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems using research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO5: Modern Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO6: The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.
  • PO7: Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
  • PO8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.
